HRTCs revenue soars by 37.5% in Aug

Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) witnessed a remarkable surge in revenue, earning Rs 70 crore in August 2024 — a 37.5 percent increase compared to Rs 51 crore in August 2023. This substantial growth also surpasses the Rs 58 crore revenue earned in August 2022, marking a strong upward trajectory for the corporation.   HRTC managing director Rohan Chand Thakur credited this significant boost to several strategic measures, including day-to-day monitoring of revenue targets, regular reviews, and route rationalization. Despite severe disruptions caused by the monsoon, the corporation maintained steady operations, further contributing to the revenue jump.   This increase in revenue has enabled HRTC to not only make timely payments to suppliers of spare parts and diesel but also ensure prompt salary disbursements, said Thakur, highlighting the impact of the new ticket and inventory management systems, which have enhanced passenger convenience and improved cost management.   The revenue growth in the first five months of the fiscal year (April-August) reflects a Rs 48 crore increase compared to the same period in 2023. Thakur expressed optimism, stating, We anticipate that HRTCs revenue could surpass last years figures by as much as Rs 80 crore, marking a significant achievement.   Among its various routes, HRTC operates Asias longest bus route, running from Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti through the Atal Tunnel, Manali, and Chandigarh, to Delhi — a 1,072 km journey that takes 35-36 hours.
