Haryana CM enhances pension, unveils Rs 2400-cr Development Plan for Panchayats

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, in a strategic move ahead of the forthcoming Assembly elections later this year, unveiled a comprehensive development agenda amounting to Rs 2400 crore on Friday. Saini, speaking at a state-level gathering of Sarpanches in Panchkula, disbursed Rs 118.47 crore in grants to 1861 gram panchayats for the repair and completion of SC/BC chaupals — the pivotal communal spaces.   Addressing the audience, Saini underscored the governments commitment to rural upliftment by announcing significant increments in pensions for Panchayati Raj representatives. Notably, pensions for the Zila Parishad chairman and vice chairman, Panchayat Samiti chairman and vice chairman, and Sarpanch were raised to Rs 3000, Rs 1500, Rs 2250, Rs 1125, and Rs 1500 respectively.   Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Saini emphasized the pivotal role of Panchayats in democratic governance, urging Sarpanches (village heads) to draft comprehensive development plans and ensure their swift implementation through local MLAs.   Comparing current initiatives with past administrations, Saini highlighted a substantial increase in funds allocated for rural development under the present government. This fiscal year, Haryana has allocated Rs 7,276.77 crore towards rural development, significantly exceeding previous budgetary provisions.   In a bid to streamline administrative processes, Saini announced an increased project execution limit of Rs 21 lakhs for Sarpanches without the need for tenders, aiming to expedite developmental projects. Additionally, every Gram Panchayat will now be equipped with a dedicated computer operator to enhance administrative efficiency.   Recognizing the pivotal role of Panchayati Raj institutions in governance, Saini integrated Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti Chairmen into state-level protocols alongside senior officials, signaling a notable enhancement in their official status.   Looking towards future milestones, Saini urged Sarpanches to actively contribute towards realizing Prime Minister Modis vision of a developed India by 2047, stressing that rural prosperity is crucial for national progress.   The Chief Ministers announcements come amidst preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections, positioning the governments proactive measures to bolster rural infrastructure and welfare as key electoral platforms.
