Directing the concerned officers to implement new plans to make Gurugram cleaner, Haryana Chief Secretary TVSN Prasad on Sunday said that the State Government is committed to ensure cleanliness and a strong drainage system in the city. Besides, the number of sanitation vehicles will be increased for door-to-door garbage collection, said Prasad holding the meeting with eminent citizens of Gurugram city.    Prasad directed the formation of a three-member committee in the meeting, which will set standards for sanitation vehicles to collect door-to-door garbage. Subsequently, Gurugram Municipal Corporation will issue a public advertisement under which any agency, RWA, institution, or any individual provides a vehicle of prescribed capacity along with a driver to the municipal corporation for door-to-door garbage collection, it will be paid on a monthly basis as per the rate fixed by the committee.   The Chief Secretary said that it is mandatory for these vehicles to have GPS installed so that their location can be continuously tracked, with their link made available in the public domain for citizens information. The minimum service period for vehicles used in this work in Gurugram city will be set for at least three years. The number of vehicles collecting door-to-door garbage in Gurugram city should be up to 1000, Prasad added.   Also taking note of the problem of waterlogging during rains in Gurugram city, the Chief Secretary obtained information from officers regarding arrangements for drainage and cleaning of drains.  If any agency mishandles drainage cleaning work, action will be taken against it.   In the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav informed that 112 critical points prone to waterlogging have been identified in the district, and IAS, HCS, and other senior officials have been assigned duty to monitor these locations.   Municipal Commissioner Dr Narhari Singh Bangar said that in Gurugram city, four major and nearly 600 kilometres of smaller drains are used for drainage work. Tenders have already been issued for cleaning all drains, and cleaning work is underway. In this regard, the Chief Secretary directed to assign an SDO or other officer duty every 10 to 20 kilometres of drain length, who will report on the daily progress of cleaning work. Action will be taken against any agency found mishandling this work.   In the meeting, the demand of Gurugram Municipal Corporation for the procurement of 40 compactors and suction machines was also instructed to proceed.   The Chief Secretary directed the officers concerned to prepare a plan to correct the waste disposal plant at Bandhwari landfill site with cleanliness and environmental experts present in the meeting. He also carefully listened to suggestions from those present in the meeting and assured citizens that he would continue to hold weekly online or offline meetings.
