In the revised polling percentage released on Wednesday, the Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Agarwal said that an average voter turnout of 64.80 percent was reported in all the 10 Lok Sabha Constituencies of Haryana. The polling in Haryana was held on May 25. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the overall voting percentage was 70. Agarwal said that the voter turnout in Haryana was slightly lower this time than in previous elections due to the heatwave. For the last many days, the maximum temperatures in the state have remained in the range of 45 to 48 degrees Celsius at many places. According to the Election Commission, the counting of votes will take place nationwide on June 4. Agarwal said comprehensive arrangements have been made to ensure smooth counting in the state, including a two-layer security system in the EVM strong rooms. He commended the voters of Haryana for their cooperation with the commissions staff in conducting a free and transparent election. Agarwal said that Sirsa Lok Sabha constituency recorded the highest voter turnout at 69.77 percent. Similarly, in Ambala voter turnout was 67.43 percent.  The lowest voter turnout in Haryana was in Faridabad and Gurugaon. In Gurgaon Lok Sabha constituency, voter turnout was of 62.03 percent while in Faridabad it was 60.52 percent. The voting turnout is the lowest since 1999, when the voting percentage was 63.68. In the 2004 and 2009 Lok Sabha elections, the voting percentages were 65.72 and 67.46, respectively. The turnout jumped to 71.45 per cent in the 2014 parliamentary elections and in 2019, the voting percentage dipped marginally to 70.34.
