  • | Wednesday | 29th May, 2024

INDIA bloc candidate from Chandigarh Manish Tewari on Tuesday presented a 56 point charge sheet against the ten years of non-performance of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the union territory. Talking to reporters, Tewari reiterated the challenge for an open debate to his BJP rival Sanjay Tandon, telling him that he will be waiting for him at Press Club, Chandigarh on May 30, 11 am to debate and discuss all the issues related to Chandigarh. The senior Congress leader listed his charges against the BJPs non-performance during the last ten years, counting these one by one. Referring to the BJPs manifesto, he remarked, the BJP had done a PhD in lying in writing. Giving some examples to prove his charges against the BJP, he pointed out that the party had promised to provide health insurance and pension to journalists working in the city. He asked whether any journalist had got insurance or a pension. He observed, if the BJP can lie to the journalists, it can easily lie to the people of Chandigarh. Tewari listed other unfulfilled promises of the BJP like preparing a Citizens Charter, holding a public durbar by the MP Kiron Kher which never happened, regularising need-based changes in the Chandigarh Housing Board flats, extending the limits of Lal Dora in the villages and resolving the issue of traffic congestion. Tewari a migratory bird shifting from one constituency to another: Sanjay Tandon BJP leader and partys candidate for Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat Sanjay Tandon said on Tuesday that the comprehensive report card presented by the former BJP Mayors of Chandigarh on developmental activities in the past 10 years has taken the wind out of the sails of Congress candidate Manish Tewaris poll campaign. Tandon said, it is now Tewaris turn to present his report card of Ludhiana and Sri Anandpur Sahib. Tandon added, "Tewari is a migratory bird and believes in abandoning constituencies not in development so I dont think he has anything to report on development." Tandon was addressing gatherings during his pad-yatras or foot marches. Tandon said ever since Tewari landed in Chandigarh after an absence of 40 years and saying goodbye to Ludhiana and Sri Anandpur Sahib, his two earlier constituencies he had based his entire election campaign on seeking BJPs report card of 10 years. Now that BJP ex-Mayors have presented it, Tewari who was issueless has also been rendered speechless. During the padyatra campaign, Sanjay Tandon directly interacted with the shopkeepers in Sector-38 Market. After this, the padyatra reached Sector-38 Motor Market. From there the march passed through Sector-19 and reached the vegetable market of Sector-26.
