In a highly charged and emotional return to Punjabs political stage, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday held a grand roadshow in Amritsar — marking his first public appearance in the state since being released on bail in Delhi excise policy case. Accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to campaign for AAPs Amritsar Lok Sabha candidate Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Kejriwal emphasized to the people of Punjab, Your vote will save the country and the Constitution.   Before hitting the campaign trail, Kejriwal, Mann, and Dhaliwal paid their respects at the Golden Temple and Durgiana Temple, praying for peace and prosperity in Punjab — a spiritual start setting a reverent tone for the days events, underscoring Kejriwals connection with the region and its people.   The roadshow in Amritsar saw thousands of AAP supporters waving flags and chanting slogans of Inquilab Zindabad, with Rang De Basanti Chola — a song associated with Shaheed-e-Aazam Bhagat Singh — being played along. The atmosphere was electric as Kejriwal, Mann, Dhaliwal, and AAPs national general secretary Dr Sandeep Pathak waved back at the enthusiastic crowd.   Addressing the crowd, Kejriwal recounted his time in jail, framing it as a period of personal and political trial. I was jailed on false charges…During my meetings with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, my foremost concern was the well-being of the people of Punjab, he said.   Kejriwal outlined what he believed were the real reasons for his imprisonment — providing free electricity, improving government schools, and establishing Mohalla Clinics in Delhi and Punjab. They jailed me because I gave your children a good education and ensured free healthcare and electricity, he asserted.   He also shared his ordeal of not receiving diabetes medication for 15 days in jail, a situation that dangerously elevated his blood sugar levels. I am a sugar patient. For the last 20 years, I have been suffering from severe diabetes. For the last 10 years, I have been on insulin. I am given 52 units of insulin daily. When I went to Tihar, they stopped my insulin injection for 15 days. My sugar level reached above 300, sometimes 350. If a persons sugar remains high for a long time, his liver and kidneys get damaged, he explained.   Your vote will decide my fate — whether I stay free or go back to jail, he told the crowd, urging them to vote to protect the achievements of the AAP Government.   Hitting at the BJP, Kejriwal said that these people want to change the Constitution. These people have very dangerous plans in their mind. They are repeatedly saying of crossing the 400-mark. These people are not telling why 400 seats are needed. When inquired, we came to know that they would end the reservation. They need 400 seats to end reservation for OBC, SC and ST, he said.   Punjab Chief Minister Mann said: After coming out of jail, Arvind Kejriwal today came to the holy land of Amritsar to pray for our country and asked God to bring our country back on the right track. Tomorrow, we will pray at Ram Teerath Mandir that the reigns of the country should go to the honest people.   Mann, addressing the crowd, emphasized the integrity and dedication of AAP candidates like Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal. He praised Dhaliwal for his efforts in reclaiming 10,000 acres of illegally occupied land and promised that Dhaliwal would champion Punjabs issues in the Parliament.   Elect Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, and no one will be able to stop our funds, Mann declared. He also echoed the sentiment that the upcoming elections are crucial for the preservation of the Constitution and democracy. In Delhi, they say 25 May, BJP Gayi. In Punjab, we say Punjab Banega Hero, iss baar 13-0, he said, predicting a clean sweep for AAP in the State.   Dhaliwal, Cabinet Minister and party candidate from Amritsar spoke passionately about the stakes of the upcoming election. We are the proud soldiers of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar and Arvind Kejriwal. We wont let them put Kejriwal in jail again, he vowed while urging the people of Amritsar to vote for him to uphold the legacy of Ambedkar and support Kejriwals vision.
