Residents demand construction of roads at Salaiya

Residents of colonies near Metro project work in Salaiya  warned to block roads on November 22 after the request to construct dilapidated roads caused due to rain and heavy vehicles of construction companies; on Sunday residents of these colonies gheraoed the company office. The roads of many colonies of Bhopals Salaiya have turned into potholes. Despite the rains stopping, these roads have not been constructed. Angry residents have warned of a road blockade on November 22. Earlier on Sunday, residents of Leela Atulyam, Mahindra Ample and Tribhuvan Society gathered at the metro construction company URC. They said that the company had promised to build the road two months ago, but it has not been fulfilled yet. On the contrary, due to the companys vehicles, the roads in front of the society have turned into big potholes.  Heavy vehicles of the company pass through these colonies. Due to which the road has become dilapidated. Residents of the three societies said that about 3000  people are facing accidents every day due to this dilapidated road. They are also troubled by respiratory diseases. They said, in a meeting with the companys supervisor on October 12, the company had said that a paved road would be built in 15 days. Despite repeated requests to build the road, no action was taken by the company. Therefore, from November 22, the road will be blocked to completely stop the movement of the companys vehicles. The residents have also submitted an application to Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Bhopal Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh, URC representatives as well as Misrod police station. A video of this road of Salaiya went viral on social media during the rains. At the same time, the residents of the society gathered the URC Construction Company engaged in the construction of the metro. Then the company started patchwork temporarily. It was also promised that they would build a paved road after the rains.   URC Construction (URCC) has received a civil construction tender of Rs 596.4 crore for package BH-03, an integral part of the Bhopal Metro Phase 1 project. Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) declared URCC as the lowest bidder for the 27.87 km long elevated package, consisting of 6 stations.
