Issuance of Ayushman Cards to senior citizens aged 70 and above is fast becoming a social movement in the state capital, with support from civic officials, welfare organisations, and government departments.District Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Prabhakar Tiwari said on Sunday that nearly 12,000 Ayushman Cards had been issued to the elderly in the city. The special camps organised by the civic body have now been adopted by social organisations and government departments.A health check-up and Ayushman card distribution camp was held at the library building in Vasant Kunj Colony on Sunday, where nearly 100 elderly individuals underwent medical check-ups. Around 40 Ayushman cards and 98 ABHA cards were also distributed. Residents welfare association office bearers led the event. The district health department collaborated with the Vijesh Lunawat Foundation to organise another Ayushman camp at the Shwetambar Jain Temple, Second Stop. Dr Shailesh Lunawat, the camp coordinator, informed senior citizens about the available packages and procedures under the scheme. The camp also offered health check-ups, free medicines, and pathology tests. Dr Tiwari added that various social institutions are actively facilitating the issuance of Ayushman cards. A similar camp will be held at the Lokayukta Office on Monday. The scheme is open to all senior citizens aged 70 and above, with no income or poverty line restrictions. Through the card, seniors can avail of cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakh in the event of hospitalisation.
