Taking stock of preparations for the festive Navratri season, Mayor Malti Rai on Friday convened civic officials and told them to ensure that meat shops in the vicinity of pandals remain closed throughout the nine-day festivities. Mayor Rai directed health officials that meat shops should not open near the pandals during the Navratri festival. She also reviewed the special cleanliness campaign initiated to deploy the entire zones workforce to one ward for cleaning in the afternoons and instructed that daily activities must be reported with photographs. Additionally, the Mayor sought information regarding the night-time cleaning arrangements. Present during the review were Mayor Council member RK Singh Baghel, health officers, assistant health officers, and other officials. She instructed the staff on the vehicles collecting waste to ensure that the materials used for worship, such as flowers and garlands, are carefully taken to the disposal centres, and that the remnants of coconuts collected from temples are separately delivered to the disposal centre at Danapani. Mayor Rai instructed health officials and assistant health officers to discuss with the members of the pandal Samitis in their respective areas to ensure that offerings and community meals are organised without plastic.
