Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that significant progress has been made through various activities carried out with public participation during the Swachhata Pakhwada (Cleanliness Fortnight) campaign aimed at making Madhya Pradesh cleaner. He expressed confidence that the impact of these efforts will be reflected in the upcoming Cleanliness Survey-2024. Yadav highlighted that the participation of citizens across the state during the campaign, which commenced on September 17 in honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modis birthday, has transformed into a mass movement. The campaign will conclude on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2, with the inauguration and foundation stone laying of development projects worth Rs 685 crore focused on cleanliness. As part of the 10th anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission, this years Cleanliness Campaign, themed "Swabhaav Swachhta-Sanskar Swachhta," commenced on September 17. The campaign saw over 42,500 activities organized across 413 urban bodies in the state. These included 34,022 public participation initiatives focused on cleanliness, 2,355 large-scale cleanliness drives, and 7,990 Safai Mitra Suraksha Camps. Additionally, health check-ups were conducted for 2,08,444 Safai Mitras and their family members in 8,000 health camps across the state. Efforts were also made to identify and improve 968 black spots, enhancing their appearance and cleanliness. Human chain and honoring of Safai Mitras In the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, the School Education Department and the Urban Administration Department together organised dialogue workshops in schools. In these, more than 2 lakh students were informed about the importance of cleanliness by interacting with them. Along with this, Safai Mitras were publicly honored. More than 1 lakh 2 thousand 200 students in 850 schools of the state formed a human chain and gave the message of cleanliness to the general public. 2333 large-scale cleanliness campaigns were conducted with the active participation of citizens in the urban bodies of the state, in which lakhs of citizens, public representatives and members of voluntary organisations participated. Through a public programme, the members involved were administered oath to keep the cities clean. Cleanliness Camps Organised Health check-up of 2 lakh 8 thousand 444 Safai Mitras and their family members was done through about 8 thousand health camps in urban bodies in the state. Apart from this, special camps were also organised to provide benefits of government schemes in these programmes. 968 black spots were treated in urban bodies. Waste processing unit and ban on the use of polythene Citizens were advised about the segregation of waste collected during the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign. Students and youth were taken on a tour of processing units. They were informed about safe disposal of waste.
