  • | Monday | 30th September, 2024

Addressing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday urged them to be mindful of the forthcoming festive season and to achieve membership drive targets ahead of Dussehra. Yadav was reviewing the progress made by the membership drive in Madhya Pradesh at the partys state headquarters. Party workers should work in such a way during the second phase of the membership campaign that the targets are achieved before the weapon worship on Dussehra. He added that the campaign should gain momentum during Pitrapaksha and Navratri.State party unit chief and Khajuraho MP Vishnudatt Sharma spelled out the achievements of the membership campaign. He informed that the success of the campaign in the state may be gauged by the fact that three constituencies in the state figure in the top 20 list for enrolling a maximum number of new members. Sharma said that 10.5 million people in Madhya Pradesh were enlisted through missed calls, and over 9.8 million formally filled out party membership forms to join the party. With 70% of the target achieved, Madhya Pradesh stands third in the country and first among large states for running the most successful campaign for the party, he added. State in-charge Mahendra Singh noted that the success of the campaign was made possible by a large number of party officials and representatives who threw their weight behind the party enrollment drive. State Organisation General Secretary Hitanand Sharma emphasized that workers must unite and strive to oust the Congress from every booth. He urged party workers to dedicate even more time and energy to the campaign during the second phase and ensure that achieving party targets can help realize this historic feat.State Minister Rajneesh Agarwal noted that the achievement of the magical figure of one crore (new members) is nothing short of a miracle. The review meeting was conducted by Bhopal MLA Bhagwandas Sabnani, who is also in charge of the membership campaign in the state. In his address, Chief Minister Yadav congratulated party workers on their performance and underlined the need for discounting during the festive season while formulating strategy for the second phase. Listing the challenges that lie ahead, Yadav said that party workers should try to ensure that the campaign peaks during Pitrapaksha and Navratri so the targets may be achieved ahead of the Shastra Pujan on Dussehra. He said that the target of 1.5 crore new members is not a daunting one, as BJP popularity in the state is well reflected in its clean sweep of 29 Lok Sabha seats during the general elections earlier this year and the huge party victory in the assembly elections of 2023. Highlighting the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yadav said that after taking over in 2014, the BJP government formulated a new Intellectual Property policy, which clarified misconceptions in the earlier version, halted brain drain, and enabled industrialists to minimize the incubation period for new production facilities. Yadav stressed the need for party workers to stay updated with time and utilize technology to achieve targets for the membership campaign.
