Heavy rains lash the State capital with brief intervals

Over 18 districts would receive heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours, warned the Met on Thursday; heavy rains lashed the state capital since morning and continued with brief intervals till evening. Rain has been continuing in Panna since night, the NDRF and Home Guard offices here are flooded. Water filled on the railway track in Katni. It rained heavily in Ratlam for an hour flooding roads and water up to one to one and a half feet was seen at several roads. Heavy rain occurred in Harda, Satna, Mandsaur. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in 18 districts of the state on Thursday. Earlier on Wednesday, 5 out of 11 sluice gates of Pagara Dam in Sagar were opened and water was released. People had to be rescued from the roofs of houses in Bildhav of Bina. Due to the rise in the water level of Dhasan river in Tikamgarh, all 12 gates of BanSujara Dam were opened at around 10 pm on Wednesday night and 480 cumecs of water was released. Late at night, water started flowing up to 2 feet above the bridge in Badagaon Dhasan. The water level of Jamni river suddenly rose on Wednesday evening in Niwari district due to which 4 youths got marooned. Divers who went to rescue them also got trapped due to high water flow. Police and SDRF team rescued everyone safely after about 6 hours of effort. A youth was swept away in the Sindh river in Sankua Dham of Datia. His body was found after 22 hours on Thursday. According to the Met the monsoon trough has moved up. The low pressure area is active in the form of cyclonic circulation. Another cyclonic circulation is in North Gujarat. It has merged with the monsoon trough. Due to these reasons, it is raining in the state. Meteorologist said that there may be a strong system again from 28 July. Heavy rain is expected in the northern part on 29 and 30 July. Heavy rain started in Bhopal on Thursday afternoon. Due to which water started flowing on the roads. Roads submerged up to one to one and a half feet in Mandsaur. The flow of water in the streets was very fast. After the rain in Satna, the collectorate was flooded. Many low-lying places were submerged in water. The railway track on Jabalpur route in Katni was flooded. Trains had trouble passing. In Panna NDRF and Home Guard office is flooded. On Wednesday, 24 districts of the state received rain. Tikamgarh received the highest rainfall of 3.5 inches. Rewa received 2.4 inches of rain and Umaria received 1.5 inches of rain. On the other hand, half an inch of rainfall witnessed in Guna, Damoh, Jabalpur, Khajuraho, Malajkhand. Rainfall also occurred in Bhopal, Betul, Dhar, Gwalior, Narmadapuram, Satna, Seoni, Indore, Khandwa, Khargone, Pachmarhi, Ratlam, Ujjain, Mandla, Narsinghpur, Rewa. For the first time in the season, the rainfall figures in the state have come equal to the average rainfall. The state has received 14.6 inches of rain. This much rainfall should have occurred till now. The western part of the state- Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Narmadapuram, Gwalior-Chambal division has received 4% more rain than the average, while the eastern part- Rewa, Sagar, Jabalpur and Shahdol division has received 5% less rain. It rained in the city in the morning. After 11 am, light and heavy rain started intermittently. It started raining heavily in the evening. According to the Meteorological Department, the rain will continue at night as well.
