Two-day workshop on women empowerment policy begins

Woman and Child Development Minister Nirmala Bhuria inaugurated a two-day workshop for women and girls empowerment in Bhopal. She said that the Women and Child Development Department in Madhya Pradesh has taken the initiative on making a policy for that class which constitutes half the population. With the cooperation of all departments, such womens policy has to be brought to the ground which will inspire other states. Minister Bhuria said that today women have equal rights legally in all fields but they still have to struggle for them in society. Womens economic empowerment decides their entire future. Along with the Central Government, the State Government has also made various schemes for the health, education, and security of women. Women empowerment is a multidimensional approach that includes economic, social, political, legal, and health aspects. Minister Bhuria said that womens policy should not be considered just a paper document, it should be prepared in the form of a manifesto. All such departments should be included where the aspects of women empoverment is untouched. She added that women empowerment is not a slogan, it is an action linked to the cutting edge of development that ensures the right to influence social change for themselves and others. Principal Secretary,Women and Child Development Shri Sanjay Shukla said that empowerment has many components like education, security, health, law, etc. The policy should include the human rights of women, their participation, and how disparities like violence, child marriage etc. can be eliminated. Shri Shukla said that Anganwadi workers, and women of self-help groups, currently working through mobile is digital empowerment. It is difficult to achieve the desired success by making efforts in only one direction because womens empowerment is a multidimensional concept. It is necessary to involve NGOs and social organizations also in this work. Let us start the empowerment of women and girls from our homes and departments. Commissioner, Women and Child Development Smt. Sufia Farooqui Wali said that the women and girls empowerment policy will be for the next ten years. The policy will be decided in the next three months with the coordination of various departments. She said that the empowerment of women is a continuous process. Suggestions will be taken for policy formulation and a draft will be prepared. Gazette notification will also be issued after approval. Besides, the policy points will also be continuously monitored and reviewed. Shri Jaideep Biswas of UNFPA said that the main objective of this workshop is the participation of every level and class in the empowerment of women and girls. To make any work successful, it is very important to have a strong foundation. The workshop was attended by representatives of various departments including MD Nidhi Nivedita of Womens Finance Development Corporation.
