BHOPAL: Bhopal Municipal Corporation BMC ) has asked for 10 acres of land for a bus depot in Kolar and Gandhinagar area of the city, according to a press release here on Tuesday.Safety on public transport was one of the major issues discussed at the executive body meeting of Bhopal City Link Limited (BCLL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the municipal corporation. Mishra also demanded that buses without any maintenance being operated by private operators should be penalised. CCTV cameras of all the buses be checked.

Police and district administration have been requested to take strict action against intercity buses operating illegally as city buses.110 units of intercity buses will be rolled out in the coming months under the ambit of BCLL.BMC corporator and BMC MiC member Keval Mishra also presented to the board of proposals for providing maintenance cost to BCLL and allocation of land for depot. Mishra also demanded that buses without any maintenance being operated by private operators should be penalised. A proposal was given to impose strict action and penalty through the traffic police and RTO.Apart from the above, the meeting was concluded after taking a decision on the reinforcement and up gradation of public transport and keeping in view the Swach Bharat campaign.
