Will contest from Sambhal, if Congress asks: Naseemuddin Siddiqi

Bareilly: Naseemuddin Siddiqi “is ready to contest from Sambhal”, if the Congress fields him from there.Siddiqi, who joined the Congress in February 2018 after being expelled from the Bahujan Samaj Party, told TOI, “I have come to know that the Congress unit in Sambhal has forwarded my name to the high command. I am ready to contest, if I have been asked.”The SP-BSP combine has already fielded Shafiqur Rahman Barq, a four-time MP, from the seat. Meanwhile, speculations are also rife that All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi can contest from Sambhal.A senior Congress leader, who wished not to be identified, told TOI that senior party leader Rashid Alvi, who had won the 1999 polls on a BSP ticket, had also expressed his desire to contest from Amroha.The Congress has already declared Raj Babbar as its Moradabad candidate.
