JAIPUR: Winter has started showing withdrawal symptoms as mercury took an upward swing across the state on Sunday. Majority of the places witnessed a rise of almost 5 degree Celsius in day and night temperatures. Sikar remained coldest in the state where minimum temperature of 7.5 degree Celsius was recorded.Attributing the climatic change to the active northerly winds Jaipur met office said mild showers will affect some parts of the western Rajasthan in the next 24 hours while weather in other parts of the state would remain mainly dry.Jaipurities woke up to a comparatively warmer morning as minimum temperature of 15.5 degree Celsius was recorded in the city. It was followed by an afternoon having maximum temperature of 28.3 degree Celsius. It was a bright sunny day which made people to switch on their fans and air-conditioners.Jaipur met office said that the onset of the summers is usually dependent on the rising day temperatures. “Day temperatures have started rising across the state which is the only deriving symptom of heat and summers. In the next one week the summers would be in full swing except a few rounds of duststorm and rainfall,” said an officer with the Jaipur met office.Sikar was followed by Churu where minimum temperature of 8.2 degree Celsius was recorded, Sriganganagar 10.6, Jodhpur 14.3, Bikaner 15.3, Jaisalmer 15.5, Ajmer 15.6, Barmer 15.9, Kota 16.0 and 16.6 degree Celsius was recorded in Udaipur.Many places in the state will start witnessing its maximum temperatures on and above 35.0 degree Celsius in the next one week. The activation of the northerly winds will guide the mercury to rise further in the next one week which would work as a catalyst in bringing summers.In its forecast Jaipur met office stated that mild to moderate showers would be witnessed at some parts in the western Rajasthan while weather would be mainly dry in rest of the state.
