Uttarakhand hotels register 70%-80% booking on an Oct. 2 long weekend

Starting last Tuesday, all that a visitor needs to do is register on the Dehradun Smart City site.  

As expected easing of Covid-19 restrictions have brought business back to the hill state of Uttarakhand as the hotels across Uttarakhand has reported around 70%-80% bookings for the long weekend around October 2.

“The hotels that have opened across Uttarakhand have had 70%-80% bookings for the long weekend around October 2,” president of the Uttarakhand Hotels Association, Sandeep Sahani said.

“Hotels across the state are looking 30%-40% increase in business (compared to last month) atrting October,” Sahini added.

Till September 23, every tourist entering the state mandatorily had to furnish Covid-19 report, those without a report had to undergo a compulsory quarantine for seven nights, and had to stay a minimum of two nights to be able to book a hotel room.

Starting last Tuesday, all that a visitor needs to do is register on the Dehradun Smart City site.  

Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, who also holds the finance portfolio, allocated Rs. 285 crore to tourism development calling it the “mainstay of livelihood of the people of Uttarakhand.”

“The day the state government eased rules, we got 50 calls about availability of rooms,” said Ved Sah, Alka Hotel, Nainital.
