As the tourism industry was trying to get back on its feet after months of halt, it faced another blow from Europe. The first travel bubble in Europe, between Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia has failed.

It was initiated in May this year as a way of passage of safe travel between the three countries. Reportedly, Latvia has opted out of the travel arrangement and has made 14-day quarantine mandatory for visitors from Estonia. The same has been done owing to a rise in the number of Coronavirus cases in Estonia.

Latvian PM Krisjanis Karins, speaking on the same stated that, "This is a decision I am not ready for ... I do not think that society is ready to allow more people to enter Latvia."

As of now, Estonia has 21 cases 100,000 people, over the past two weeks. The numbers have been released by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control. It is also reported that the number exceeds the limit of compulsory quarantine as set by Latvia at 16 cases.

It has to be noted that Latvia`s efforts of saving its citizens from a massive outbreak of COVID-19 are exemplary and have made the country as one of the nations with the lowest infection rate in the European Union. The country`s decision to opt out of the said travel bubble is noted as another significant step to contain any major outbreak of the pandemic that has rattled the world.
