Winters have stepped in full spirits, there’s snowfall in many parts of the country, and other parts are witnessing the drop in the temperature. This changing temperature can play a troll on your health. But did you know a common kitchen ingredient your mother has been using frequently is the key to beat harsh winters, wondering which one? Well, this health bundle is carom seeds or ajwain. This spice is rich in anti-oxidants and is doped with numerous anti-inflammatory properties.

Listed below are few ways in which you can use this power ingredient to beat harsh winters, have a look!

Ajwain kada

Make a soothing herbal potion of ajwain with other herbs too. Add 1 tsp of ajwain, a few tulsi leaves, 1/2 tsp dry ginger powder, 1 clove, 5 black peppers, 1/2 tsp turmeric, 1/3 cup jaggery in 1/2 cup water and bring to a boil. Drain the liquid and let it cool. Have 2 tsp of the kada for three days, twice a day after your meals to see effective results.

Ajwain potli

Roast 2 tsp of ajwain on a hot tawa or a heavy bottom pan until the smell unfetters. Put these roasted ajwains in a muslin cloth and make a potli or a pouch. To counter congestion in the chest and stuffy nose rub this hot ajwain pouch on your chest.

Ajwain infused water

Add ajwain in boiling water to prepare ajwain infused water and let it cool. Sip the water twice or thrice for three days to fight cold. Not many know but this mixture also helps in treating stomach aches as well.

Ajwain infused oil

Add a pinch of ajwain to massaging oil and heat it for a few seconds. When the oil reaches a bearable temperature, use this oil to massage on your chest and back. It works miraculously to combat cough and cold. 

Ajwain and garlic potli

For unblocking nose and easing out congestion, take 2 big garlic cloves and dry roast them on the tawa along with 1 tbsp of ajwain. Once roasted, let the mixture cool down and pack it in a muslin cloth to make a potli. The garlicky ajwain smoke from the potli.
