LS Polls 2024 Phase 5: THIS Party Has Most Candidates With Criminal Cases Against Them

In the fifth phase, 695 candidates are in the fray for a total of 49 Lok Sabha seats in eight states/union territories. Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch analysed the affidavits of these candidates and found out hat criminal cases are registered against 159 candidates. There are 122 serious crime cases registered and a total of 227 billionaire candidates are contesting in the fifth phase. Lok Sabha Polls Fifth Phase: Nine Cases of Atrocities Against Women Ten candidates contesting elections in the fifth phase have cases against them for giving inflammatory speeches. There are cases of atrocities against women against 29 candidates. A case of rape has been registered against one. There are 28 candidates of the fifth phase who are booked under the section of attempt to murder. There are murder cases against four. Criminal cases are registered against five candidates of Samajwadi Party, three of Shiv Sena, two of AIMIM, 19 of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), eight of Congress, three of Trinamool Congress (TMC), three of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), one candidate each of RJD and BJD. Lok Sabha Polls Fifth Phase: Billionaire Candidates In Fray 227 billionaire candidates are in the fray for the fifth phase including ten from SP, six from Shiv Sena, four from RJD, two from Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar), 36 from BJP, seven from Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), six from Trinamool Congress, 15 from Congress, four from BJD and four from AIMIM. Two candidates are billionaires with assets more than one crore rupees. The average assets of the candidates are Rs 3.56 crore. One candidate has declared his assets as nil.
