Delhi Heatwave: Voting Day Expected To Witness Scorching Heat, No Relief In Sight; Check IMD Forecast

Delhi Heatwave: The sixth phase of voting for the ongoing Lok Sabha election is scheduled for Saturday (May 25). All Lok Sabha seats across Delhi will vote in the upcoming phase. According to the India Meteorological Departments (IMDs) latest weather bulletin, heatwave to severe heatwave conditions will prevail in several parts of northern India, including places in Delhi-NCR, through the present week. The Election Commission (EC) believes that the scorching heat across the nation is one of the reasons that has affected voter turnout in the phases held so far. Delhi Heatwave: Sweltering Heat Expected On Voting Day In its five-day bulletin released on Thursday, the IMD said, "Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions very likely in many/most parts of Rajasthan during 23rd-27th; in some/many parts of Punjab, Haryana Chandigarh during 23rd-27th; West Uttar Pradesh during 26th & 27th; in isolated pockets of Delhi during 24th-27th May, 2024." The temperature in Delhi on the day of voting is forecast to reach 44 degree Celsius. All 10 parliamentary seats across Haryana and 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh will also go to the polls on May 25. Various parts of the two states are also expected to encounter severe heatwave conditions till May 27. As part of the measures planned by EC to help voters combat the sweltering temperatures, facilities like drinking water, wheelchairs, and medical teams will be available at polling stations.
