As Pollsters Predict BJP’s Clean Sweep, Here’s What Opposition Leaders Said On Exit Polls

As the marathon polling for the Lok Sabha polls draws to a close on Saturday, almost all the pollsters predicted BJP-led NDAs clean sweep. Many even predicted that the saffron party may accomplish its ambitious 400+ target. Axis My India predicted 361-401 seats for the NDA while 131-136 seats were given the INDIA Bloc. The pollsters predicted the saffron party may gain big in West Bengal and Odisha. Besides, BJP is expected to open its account in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. However, the BJP is likely to face setbacks in Rajasthan and Haryana, but the damage is not big enough to prevent Narendra Modi from leading the country for a third consecutive term. Amid the vehement deliberations over the exit poll results, reactions have started pouring in from across the political spectrum.   Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh dismissed the exit poll results as manipulated. He predicted a decisive win for the INDIA bloc, claiming they would secure at least 295 seats. He also accused PM Modi of orchestrating the exit polls. Senior Congress leader and Congress Thiruvananthapuram candidate Shashi Tharoor said the exit polls are unscientific and they will wait for the results to see a clear picture. He said the exit polls numbers were proved wrong in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan last year. AAP leader Somnath Bharti said he will shave off his head if Narendra Modi becomes a Prime Minister for a third consecutive term. He said all exit polls will prove wrong when votes will be counted on June 4.  I will shave off my head if Mr Modi becomes PM for the third time. Mark my word, Bharti wrote in a post on X. He further added, All exit polls will be proven wrong on 4th June and Modi ji will not become prime minister for the third time. In Delhi, all seven seats will go to India ALLIANCE. Samajwadi Party leader ST Hasan said the prediction of exit polls was far from reality as the situation on the ground was different.  He said the predicted figures by the pollsters were incorrect. In a brief reaction on the exit polls, BRS leader and working president K. T. Rama Rao said they will wait for the result day before commenting. BJD leader Sasmit Patra said the surveys were wrong and their party was going to do extremely well under Naveen Patnaik. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anand Dubey said the result were going to come as a big shock for everyone as the INDIA bloc was set to win over 295 seats. AAP leader Sanjay Singh said the exit polls were prepared in the BJP office and the INDIA bloc was on the way to winning 295 seats. He said BJP was involved in a foul play to hide the exact numbers. JMM MP Mahua Maji said the exit poll numbers were not trustworthy as they were conducted by private channels owned by the industrialists. She said it was too early to predict anything. RJD Spokesperson Shakti Singh said the exit poll survey report was made by the pollsters in AC rooms and the country was going to form INDIA blocs government in the country. RJD leader Manoj said the news channels were instructed from the PMO to present such numbers in the exit polls. He said his party does not believe in such predictions. Former Chhattisgarh CM and Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel said the exit polls were just a TRP issue for the channels and the picture will be clear on June 4. Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar said he doesnt believe in exit polls and Congress was crossing double digits in the state.
