Anantnag-Rajouri Election 2024 LIVE Voting News: The Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha constituency in Jammu and Kashmir is voting today in the sixth phase of Lok Sabha Election 2024, amidst heightened security due to recent violent incidents. The constituency, which now includes 18 assembly segments across five districts, will see a significant contest between PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, National Conferences Mian Altaf and 18 other candidates. The Election Commission of India has established 2,338 polling stations to accommodate the 18,36,576 registered voters, which include 9,33,647 males, 9,02,902 females and 27 third-gender voters.  The delimitation exercise completed in May 2022, expanded the constituencys reach beyond the four districts of south Kashmir, crossing into Poonch and Rajouri. The rescheduling of the polls from the initial May 7 date was due to severe weather conditions. The ECI has deployed over 9,000 personnel to manage the polling process, including 19 border polling stations in Rajouri and Poonch.  Campaigning ended on Thursday, with Section 144 of the CrPC enforced to ensure a peaceful voting environment. The Srinagar and Baramulla constituencies have already completed their voting process without any untoward incidents. The election comes against the backdrop of security challenges, highlighted by the recent killing of a government employee in Rajouri, an attack on an Indian Air Force convoy in Poonch and the murder of a sarpanch in Shopian.
