President gives away National Awards to 47 teachers on Teacher’s Day

The National Awards were given on Teacher’s day to celebrate the appraisable contribution of teachers for inculcating innovative methods of teaching and adapting to the best possible practice to teach students. Some of the finest teachers are honored on this day for their remarkable commitment in improving quality of education in schools and enriching lives of their students.

5th September is celebrated across the country as Teachers Day a teacher someone who sow a seed of knowledge and wisdom within you that later thrives. To be a teacher is to give ample amount of kindness from sharing experiences to scolding followed by boring lectures but keeping all aside it’s never too late to acknowledge the remarkability and dedication of your teacher that they pour out upon so that you could achieve great heights.

The day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of educationist and former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radahakrishnan who was one of India’s most distinguished scholar, believed that ‘’teachers should be the best minds in the country’’. It is believed that some friend of Dr. Radahakrishnan and students once visited him on his birthday after he became the President of India and requested him to celebrate his birthday to which the former president said that he would be highly obliged if 5th September would rather celebrated as teachers day and the rest is history .

President Ram Nath Kovind stated that teachers are true nation builders who lay the foundation of character building in our sons and daughters to make them enlightened citizens. Speaking after virtually conferring the National Awards 2020 that were given to teachers on this auspicious day he stated that ‘’only good building, expensive equipment or facilities do not make a school, teacher’s dedication is most important factor in making a good school’’. The President further talked about the new education policy ‘’ the new education policy introduced is an endeavor to prepare our children for future needs and been designed after considering the opinion of various stakeholders. It is now the teachers who would be at the center stage for making the policy successful and productive, efforts will be made to accommodate the most talented people in teaching profession at every level’’.

Emphasizing the importance of digital education in this unprecedented situation of COVID-19 the President stated ‘’our teachers are taking help of technology to reach out to student’’ applauding their efforts to take a shift in this new age of technological era he stated that it is important for teachers to ‘’upgrade and update’’ their skills in the field of digital technology so as to make education more effective and conversant for students.

A total of 47 teachers across the country both men and women were on Saturday conferred the National Award by President Ram Nath Kovind on the occasion of Teacher’s Day. This was the first ever virtual ceremony held on the occasion due to the pandemic which so far has infected 4 million people across the country.  

Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Minister of State for education Sanjay Dhotre were also present on the occasion
