Hyundai Motor India Ltd., on Wednesday has announced the launch of the Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) for its Venue SUV. The iMT equipped Hyundai Venue is priced between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 11.08 lakh (ex-showroom), available in SX and SX (O) trim options.

Also, the South Korean automaker has introduced new Sport trim for the compact SUV, available at a starting price of Rs 10.20 lakh. The pricing of Hyundai Venue Spot trim goes up to Rs 11.58 lakh (ex-showroom).

The iMT equipped Hyundai Venue gets power from a Kappa 1.0-litre T-GDi BS-VI petrol engine. On the other hand, the Hyundai Venue Sport trim is available in both 1.0-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options. The petrol engine for this trim is available with iMT and a 7-DCT gearbox, while the diesel variant gets a 6-speed manual transmission.As Hyundai says, the iMT technology features a Transmission Gear Shift (TGS) lever with Intention Sensor, Hydraulic Actuator and Transmission Control Unit (TCU). The Transmission Control Unit receives signal from TGS Lever Intention Sensor, indicating the driver’s desire to change gears. Then the TCU sends a signal to engage Hydraulic Actuator forming hydraulic pressure.

The hydraulic pressure is then sent to Concentric Slave Cylinder (CSC) through clutch tube. Concentric Slave Cylinder uses this pressure to control the clutch and pressure plate, thereby engaging and disengaging the clutch.
