Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal announces new `Electric Vehicle Policy`

The Electric Vehicle Policy is valid till three years after which the government will review the outcome of the policy.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday launched a new `Electric Vehicle Policy` aimed at boosting economy, reducing pollution levels and generating employment in the city.

Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal announced that Delhi government will provide financial incentive of upto Rs 1.5 lakh on the purchase of four-wheelers, Rs 30,000 on two-wheelers, auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws and freight carriers.

Under the new policy, government will waive registration fee and road tax for the electric vehicles while the commercial electric vehicle buyers will get interest waiver on loans.

The chief minister termed it a "progressive policy" of the country.
