Waste collection in Palakkad to resume today

People of the panchayat are against the collection of waste at the processing plant and dump yard due to the absence of a scientific waste management process.A total of 5,400kg plastic waste is segregated in the dump yard. The solid waste to be processed is piled up for more than a month in the dump yard.Municipality authorities have expressed the hope that they could resume the collection and processing of waste from Monday. Palakkad: The waste collection held up for more than a month in the Palakkad municipality will resume from Monday.The intervention of district collector D Balamurali has found a solution to the issue involving the municipality and Kodumbu grama panchayat, where the waste processing plant and dump yard are located.A meeting of the municipality and grama panchayat authorities called by the collector decided that the segregated piled up waste at the dump yard would be removed before Monday.After that, the Kodumbu grama panchayat will take a call on bringing waste from the municipality.
