The children in the age group of nine months to 15 years will be given the MR shot. When we had sessions in schools we were trying to vaccinate 200 children in one session, now we will be trying to immunize around 150 children in a session. So, in Shil we will be conducting around 153 such sessions, Mumbra 84, and 92 in Kausa, in a month,” said V. Devgikar, reproductive child health officer, TMC.While in Thane and Kalwa combined - around 97 per cent children have been vaccinated since November, in Shil around 67 per cent have taken the shots, Mumbra – 45 and Kausa –38 children have bene covered.“We have noticed that we have started to get a positive response from the Muslim dominated pockets and we are hoping that these home sessions will help us to achieve the target soon,” added Devgikar. Thane: In order to meet the 100 per cent target of MR vaccination, the civic health authorities have decided to visit each and every household so that not a single child is missed from being vaccinated for measles and rubella vaccination shots. The health department stated that this move was done due to the ongoing school exams, since few schools are on vacation and even SSC students will not be visiting schools, so they will not be able to conduct any sessions or vaccinate children in these educational institutions. The health department stated that after going door-to-door and identifying children, the team will be static at a place and the children will be asked to come there for the vaccines.“There will be a team of a vaccinator and two mobilizers and each team will have to cover at least 100 homes.
