Teen drowns in Bhiwandi swimming pool

BHIWANDI: A 19-year-old youth, Farman Parvez Khan, drowned in a civic body-run swimming pool in Bhiwandi on Sunday afternoon. They initially thought he was playing a prank, but when he failed to surface, they along with three lifeguards pulled him out and rushed him to hospital where he was declared dead. The victim, who had recently taken the Army recruitment exams, was a resident of Balajinagar area in Bhiwandi.Khan, along with his three friends, had gone for a swim to Tawre stadium run by Bhiwandi-Nizampura Municipal Corporation.Police said there were around 20 people in the pool when Khan's friends realized he was missing.
