THANE: A 40-year-old woman human trafficker was convicted and sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment by the Thane district court for slashing the private parts of a girl who put up a fight for being forced into prostitution.After a 5-year trial, district judge S P Gondhalekar pronounced the sentence to accused Ruby Munshi who hails from Satkhira district in Bangladesh.Two of her aides Afzal Siddiqui (35) and Ramadevi Dodamani (61) were acquitted of all charges for lack of evidence, while another accused Alamgir is said to be on the run.Prosecutor Ujjwala Moholkar told the court that on March 21, 2014, a social worker was informed that a 24-yearold girl was brought from Bangladesh with promises of a job but was instead pushed into flesh trade in a brothel run by Munshi.When the victim refused to enter prostitution, the accused physically assaulted her and chopped off her private parts.
