Man steals dry fruits worth Rs 13 lakh in Surat

SURAT: A paan shop owner was booked at Umra police station for stealing dry fruits worth Rs12.50 lakh from Reliance Mall in Vesu on Saturday. The accused Hitendra Shukla purchased biscuits worth Rs4 lakh to steal dry fruits worth Rs12.50 lakh packed in biscuit cartons.Amitesh Tiwari, an employee of the mall, had lodged the police complaint. The mall officials came to know about the theft a few days ago. He was stopped for questioning by the mall officials when he came for shopping again. He used to seal the cartons in a manner that the executive at the billing counter had no reason to suspect.

He was stopped for questioning by the mall officials when he came for shopping again. He entered into an argument with them and blamed them for not ensuring proper security at the mall.Detailed examination of the video footages showed him removing biscuit packets from the cartons and stuffing dry fruits into them. He used to seal the cartons in a manner that the executive at the billing counter had no reason to suspect.
