PUNE: A 34-year-old woman was arrested by the Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch on Wednesday for allegedly murdering her 58-year-old landlady following a dispute. Police have also arrested the woman's accomplice, who helped her.The suspects have been identified as Swapnali Sonawane (34), of Dighi, and Radheshyam Kori (40), of Alandi. The deceased woman has been identified as Sunanda Jagannath Walke (58) of Parandenagar in Dighi. The crime branch team was led by inspector Uttam Tangade.Walke's body was found on an open plot at Charholi on February 16. Her face was smashed with a big stone. The next day, police ascertained the woman's identity. "During the probe, we came to know that Walke and her tenant Sonwane had a dispute over money," Tangade said. The tenant was taken into custody. "During questioning, Sonawane admitted to her involvement in the murder and also revealed the name of autorickshaw driver Kori," Tangade said.On February 16, Sonawane told Walke that she would receive some money from a person and requested the landlady to accompany her. Sonawane took Walke to different places in Moshi, Chikhali, Dehu Road , Talegaon and at last stopped at an open plot in Charholi. "Sonawane and Kori gave Walke a vada-paav to eat. The duo then bludgeoned her with a big stone and also stabbed her with a sharp weapon," Tangade said.The duo then removed Sonawane's ornaments and fled.
