GAYA: Allaying apprehensions about PM security, Gaya SSP Rajiv Mishra has said its protocol is elaborate enough to take care of all possibilities arising out of the Maoist bandh call given in the region on April 2 when PM Narendra Modi is to address election rallies in Gaya and Jamui.Without revealing the number of security personnel deployed for the PM visit, the SSP said the entire area will be effectively sanitized. He made it clear that objects that can be used as missile would not be permitted at the venue. Such items include water bottles and handbags. On the point of black clothing handkerchief and headgear etc, the SSP said there would be no blanket ban on such items but the behaviour of everybody would closely be monitored.Identity proof would not be required in general but the participants could be asked to produce it in case of any suspicion, he said.As per available details, six of the ten entry points at the Gandhi Maidan would be available for general public. Two entry points have been reserved for VIPs and one for VVIPs. One gate has been kept reserved for emergency use. All footpath vendors have been evicted from the four sides of the sprawling ground spread over an area of 27 acres.According to Magadh watchers, the bandh call given on the PM’s rally day may deter people from the Maoist-infested southern part of the district from attending the rally. A villager said police will protect them only on the day of the programme, but what about subsequent days.According to old-timers, rival groups of BJP workers exchanged shoe showers during then PM aspirant Narendra Modi’s public meeting at the same venue in 2014. Party workers, according to sources, have been warned against any ill behaviour.Sources also say local BJP leaders are worried about the resentment brewing up on account of the Gaya seat, a traditional BJP bastion, being offered to ally JD(U). In 1999, when the party denied ticket to sitting MP Krishna Chaudhary, BJP activists made noisy protest during LK Advani’s election meeting. However, district BJP president Dhanraj Sharma said being disciplined soldiers, all party men stood behind NDA candidate Vijay Manjhi and the question of any protest or bickering simply does not arise.
