CPI RJD and Congress ignored Left under corporate pressure

PATNA: CPI national secretary K Naraina on Sunday alleged corporate pressure on the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan to keep the two Left parties — CPI and CPM — out of their alliance and to also not support former JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar’s candidature from Begusarai parliamentary seat.“It is under the corporate pressure that CPI and CPM were not included in the Grand Alliance that is led by RJD and also has Congress in it,” Naraina said, alluding to the corporate pressure brought to bear on RJD and Congress.He also said the CPI had already decided to field Kanhaiya from Begusarai, but had withheld the announcement till the broad coalition formation of the Grand Alliance with the Left parties was put on the floor. “However, a broad coalition of the Left, secular and democratic forces opposed to BJP could not be formed.
