Techie found dead in Noida society, cops suspect suicide

Noida: A 26-year-old software engineer was found dead at the base of a 16th-floor apartment tower of a housing society in Sector 121 on Saturday. The other family members are on their way to Noida from their native place in Jharkhand. Police have seized the call records and are investigating if he was depressed.“He apparently had a fight with his fiancée last night. He was, however, found dead under tower S a little after 6.30am.Police said Ravi had recently got engaged and had a fight with his fiancée on Friday night.

Noida: A 26-year-old software engineer was found dead at the base of a 16th-floor apartment tower of a housing society in Sector 121 on Saturday. Ravi Heliwal, who worked for Ericsson in Noida, stayed on the third floor of tower P of Homes society. He was, however, found dead under tower S a little after 6.30am.Police said Ravi had recently got engaged and had a fight with his fiancée on Friday night. The engineer’s family, who were on their way to Noida from their native place in Jharkhand after getting the news, has sought an investigation into the death.An FIR has been lodged against unknown persons under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC.In CCTV footage that police have sourced from the society, Ravi can be seen going to the 16th floor of tower S in a lift after walking out of the basement of tower P. CCTVs, however, do not capture him jumping from the tower.Akhilesh Tripathi, the SHO of Phase 3 police station, said Ravi can be seen taking the lift around 6.30am. His blood-soaked body was found at the base of the tower after a few minutes.“A guard spotted Ravi’s body lying on the ground and informed police. Prima facie, it seems to be a case of suicide but we are probing other angles too as the family has lodged a complaint,” he said.Ravi had apparently shifted to the flat in Homes society on March 2 after seeing an advertisement on Facebook about the need for a tenant. His two flatmates said they did not have many details about Ravi as he would not speak much and kept mostly to himself.Sources said Ravi was recently engaged to a woman and apparently had a tiff with his fiancée on Friday night. Police have seized the call records and are investigating if he was depressed.“He apparently had a fight with his fiancée last night. Its recording is there in the mobile phone too,” a police officer said.Ravi’s brother Raunak Heliwal, who works with a private firm in Gurgaon, has lodged a complaint at Phase III police station, demanding an investigation into the matter. The other family members are on their way to Noida from their native place in Jharkhand.
