Woman falls off scooter, crushed by truck

Noida: A 28-year-old woman riding pillion on a scooter with her husband was killed after being hit by a truck on Saturday morning. The woman fell off the scooter and the truck crushed her under its wheels,” senior sub inspector Vijendra Singh said.Sonu, however, was thrown a few metres ahead after the fall. It was around 8am on Saturday when the woman, Alka, and her husband Sonu were travelling to Bulandshahr. The accident happened near Girdharpur when the Activa that the couple were riding skidded on the bumpy road and the truck ran over her.“It seems the Activa skidded on the road while trying to negotiate a bump. Police said Sonu and Alka were travelling from Delhi’s Mehrauli to meet Alka’s parents in Kakod district.

The accident happened place on the bumpy Kherli-Kasna road in Greater Noida. It was around 8am on Saturday when the woman, Alka, and her husband Sonu were travelling to Bulandshahr. Police said Sonu and Alka were travelling from Delhi’s Mehrauli to meet Alka’s parents in Kakod district. The oil tanker was surrounded by villagers, but the driver had fled by then.After the police were informed, they seized the truck and Sonu was taken to Sharda hospital in Greater Noida.Singh said Sonu suffered serious injuries to the head and limbs. “The owner of the truck has not been identified so far. We have seized the truck and an FIR has been lodged against the unknown driver,” he said.The FIR was lodged under sections 304A (death by negligence), 338 (causing grievous hurt by endangering life or personal safety of others) and 279 (rash driving) of the IPC on a complaint from Sonu’s family.
