Irrigation department demands FIR be lodged against duo for illegal construction in floodplain

We will now send the complaint to the latter,” he said.The irrigation department said that an FIR be lodged against the protection of the embankment, preservation of the living character of the Hindon river and for saving innocent public from monetary harm, so as to avoid from any kind of loss to the public and property.The complaint also mentions about the UP government’s order dated March 16, 2010 warning against illegal construction/encroachment on the banks of the rivers and display of the floodplain as flood-prone area and which emphasises that “any kind of construction in the area is unauthorised.”Further, no NOC will be issued for any construction in floodplain area neither will any map be sanctioned for any kind of construction, the order states.The NGT had issued and order against the construction on May 20, 2013 following which, an order by the UP government directed the SSP/SP concerned to remove the illegal construction from the floodplain areas.Phase III SHO Akhilesh Tripathi said that they have received a complaint from the department and the same has been forwarded to the Bisrakh police station.
