Police said Satyendra, who had come to his in-laws’ place in Khoda, owned a shop selling breakfast items earlier.“He would take the cab out for private bookings. He lit a grate to keep himself warm and dozed off after locking the doors,” said Girija Shankar Tripathi, the SHO of Sector 49 police station.A few passersby knocked on the window of the cab around 6am on Wednesday when they saw smoke inside. NOIDA: A 26-year-old cab driver died of suspected suffocation inside his locked WagonR because of smoke from burning coal that he had kept on a grate under the dashboard to keep himself warm.Satyendra, who was from Mehrola in Sambhal district, had parked his cab near Sector 50 metro station when he apparently dozed off. The team had to break open the window glass to take the body out,” Tripathi said.Police said that prima facie, the death seems to have been caused by the toxic fumes from the charcoal being burnt in the grate.The body has been sent for an autopsy and a report is expected soon.
