NOIDA: The Kashmiri student whose family lodged a missing person’s complaint at Expressway police station, left his relative’s home in the capital voluntarily, Noida police have concluded in its report, recommending that the case be now investigated by Delhi Police Sayeed Basit Hasan, the final-year management student of Asian Business School from Kashmir’s Bandipora district, left his paying guest facility in Noida’s Sector 126 on December 6 and stayed at a friend’s place till December 12 afternoon. And later that evening, he visited his uncle’s place in Delhi’s Daryaganj area before leaving on his own, police said. His uncle is an imam at a Delhi masjid.Sub-inspector Vinod Singh of Expressway police station told TOI on Wednesday that “a report has been prepared in the case” and it’s recommended that “it be now handled by Delhi Police”. “However, the report has to be ratified by senior officers,” he said. According to police, Basid’s last location was traced to Punjab. “His account details were checked and it was found that he had about Rs. 1,300 in his J-K Bank account, of which, he withdrew about Rs 1,000 from an ATM in Amritsar around 8.10 am on December 13. His location was then found in Ludhiana around 10 am,” another police official said.Cops had earlier suspected Basid disappeared out of fear of exams. However, his family members are worried. “Initially, police said that his last location was Ludhiana but now, there is no response from their side. We are helpless as there is no clue from anywhere,” Basid’s father Sayeed Nashirul Hassan said. Meanwhile, Basit’s friends have raised suspicion that it was possible that he might be guided by someone as he did not even know.
