Jalyukta Shivar works with villages

NASHIK: The Jalyukta Shivar work worth Rs47 crore carried out in 229 villages in the year 2016-17 were handed over to respective gram panchayats who will now have to monitor its usage and maintenance. "The exit report for all the 229 villages has been signed by the agencies concerned and the projects of water conservation have been handed over to the gram panchayats. They (gram panchayats) which will now have to ensure the assets are well maintained," an official said.The task of keeping these water sources alive and healthy will be the responsibility of the gram panchayats. "They can use government funds for this ," he added.
