Police book 3 for not registering tenant info

According to police, the tenant verification process has been made compulsory to ensure no anti-social elements or people with criminal intention stays in the city.“There are possibilities that people engaged in criminal activities may take shelter in Nashik. Nashik: The city police have booked three property owners for their alleged failure in informing the police about the tenants living in their houses under the tenant verification process.The Ambad police have registered a case against Chandrakant Nerkar (60), a resident of Tidke Colony, as he failed to provide information about his tenant. The officer said that they have started a drive against house owners not opting for tenant verification and are registering cases against them.ACP zone III, who is also the executive magistrate, issued an order on December 3, which makes it mandatory for property owner to complete the process of the verification. A case against Sonawane has been booked by the Satpur police.All three have been booked under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code related to disobedience to order duly promulgated by public authorities.

Gosavi has given his apartment in Rajkamal Society on rent to Kamlesh Mahajan for the past two years.The third case was booked against Prashant Sonawane (69), a resident of Someshwar Colony, for renting his room to two tenants for the past six months. A case against Sonawane has been booked by the Satpur police.All three have been booked under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code related to disobedience to order duly promulgated by public authorities. The tenant information helps us track and nab such people so that the people in the city are safe,” a police officer said.The tenant verification process has been made compulsory and for that the property owner has to present his agreement and details about the tenant to the local police station.Making it easier for the property owners the Nashik Police has launched a mobile application that allows a person to enter details of both, the tenant as well as the property owner, through it without having to visit the police station. The officer said that they have started a drive against house owners not opting for tenant verification and are registering cases against them.ACP zone III, who is also the executive magistrate, issued an order on December 3, which makes it mandatory for property owner to complete the process of the verification. The violation will attract legal action.
