Nagpur’s ‘Global Shapers’ brainstorm over key aspects of climate change

Global Shapers Community Nagpur Hub hosted Central India’s first Climate Reality Presentation & Conference in association with The Climate Reality Project recently. The objective of the conference was to build skills & strategies about the science of climate change and deriving best solutions to meet the future challenges. If worked upon diligently, climate change can be harnessed to the benefits of entrepreneurs as demonstrated by the esteemed speakers andMr. Aditya Pundir. The 3-day event was successful in creating more than 300Global Climate Leaders, all of whom pledged todrive the conversation about climate change forward and turn awareness into action. The final track was Entrepreneurship to discuss how climate change mitigation has created innovation opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Global Shapers Community Nagpur Hub hosted Central India’s first Climate Reality Presentation & Conference in association with The Climate Reality Project recently. The objective of the conference was to build skills & strategies about the science of climate change and deriving best solutions to meet the future challenges. The presentation was conducted as four individual tracks over the period of 3 days, at NEERI and VIA. With each track focusing on specific area of impact and opportunity, the four tracks were – Education 2.0, Social Innovation, Eco-Governance & Entrepreneurship. Mr. Aditya Pundir, Country Head at The Climate Reality Project India from New Delhi and other distinguished guests from public policy, education & social impact space from Nagpur graced the event. The first session Education 2.0, focused on enlightening teachers about the climate sciences and how to help inculcate the virtues in the upcoming generation. Mr. Sharad Bhave, Former Director, G H Raisoni College of Management noted with concern, “Modern lifestyle has made us very devoid and disconnected with nature and our natural self, if we want to save this biosphere and ourselves, its high time we reconnect with it.” Social Innovation, the second session addressed the various social aspects of climate change, especially the vulnerability of the poorest section of our society, Mr.Tanveer Mirza, Head, Yashodhara Foundation joined us in the pledge towards a better and cleaner tomorrow, by the conscious efforts of today. The third track was eco-governance. This session aimed at the possible policies that the government could come up with to make a big impact in the fight against climate crisis. Eminent speaker Dr.RamnathSonawane, CEO Nagpur Smart City provided a positive outlook on the issues and showcased the numerous incentives that we could use to combat this problem. The final track was Entrepreneurship to discuss how climate change mitigation has created innovation opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs. If worked upon diligently, climate change can be harnessed to the benefits of entrepreneurs as demonstrated by the esteemed speakers and Mr. Aditya Pundir. The 3-day event was successful in creating more than 300Global Climate Leaders, all of whom pledged todrive the conversation about climate change forward and turn awareness into action. Attendees included teachers & principals, college students, NGOs, business owners, government employees & other concerned citizens. Dignitaries also included Mr. P. M.Parlewar, Director, MSME DI, Nagpur, Dr. Nitin Labhsetwar, Chief Scientist & Head, ERMD Division, NEERI, Nagpur and Mr. Ashit Sinha, President, Human Development Institute.
