Meerut: Special task force (STF) sleuths who are trying to track gangster Badan Singh ‘Baddo’ since his escape from a hotel on Thursday evening believe that his associate, Sushil Mooch, another gangster with a bounty of Rs 1.5 lakh on his head, helped him.Mooch, a dreaded criminal in west UP, is himself on the run.Once business partners in the 90s, the duo committed several crimes in west UP, including murder, extortion and “settlements” in land and property deals.As police surveillance on the duo intensified, Mooch relocated to Jaipur while Baddo began operating from Delhi-NCR where his name had came up in connection with several land and property grab cases. In 2012, west UP STF arrested Mooch from Jaipur while Badoo was caught in Delhi.Though Mooch secured bail in two years’ time, Badoo was convicted in a murder case in 2017 and sentenced for life.Last year, Mooch's name had surfaced in a sensational double murder in Meerut's Partapur area where he was named for criminal conspiracy.STF now believes that Mooch had a major role to play in Baddo’s escape. It entailed massive planning for a smooth execution of the plan. "Given their past, it is highly likely that Mooch aided Baddo’s escape. Arrest of either will automatically lead to the other,” said STF CO Brijesh Singh.
