BHADOHI: Congress general secretary and east UP in-charge Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday hit back at Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party after the two regional satraps said they would not align with Congress in 2019 Lok Sabha elections at all.She also asserted that there is a lot of work to be done for Congress in UP and added if the party asks her to fight election, she would not hestitate to jump into poll fray.“We are fighting this election. And we are fighting alone. We are not here to disturb anyone. We are not abstaining from anything. Our sole objective is to beat the BJP. Their’s (SP and BSP) is the same,” said Priyanka.“If party asks me contest, I will. If Rahulji asks me to campaign anywhere, I will,” she said.Priyanka made these remarks at Sitamarhi Ghat in Badohi on the first day of her three-day Ganga tour, that also marks her first poll campaign for 2019 Lok Sabha polls, covering east UP districts between Allahabad and Varanasi. She was replying to the comments made by BSP supremo Mayawati and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav that Congress was forcing a pre-poll alliance upon the two parties by leaving seven seats for their top leaders. In a press conference on Sunday, UP Congress president Raj Babbar had announced the decision to leave Firozabad, Mainpuri and Kannauj seats among others, saying it was a gesture to reciprocate sentiments shown by SP and BSP when they left Amethi and Rae Bareli for Congress. However, both Mayawati and Akhilesh, instead chose to attack the Congress.Priyanka also insisted that her brother Rahul is directly fighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019 polls, irrespective of the outcome.“The BJP or anyone can say whatever they want. My brother is the only one who is directly fighting them. And he will continue to fight them, no matter whatever the outcome is. And I am fighting side by side with him with what we believe. Wherever I go, whoever I meet — farmers or students, they say they have had enough of this government,” said Priyanka. “We believe in democracy. We believe that everyone should be able to voice whatever they feel like, dress whatever they like. We don’t believe in destruction of institutions and Constitution. We are hopeful of scripting a big win in UP,” Priyanka added.
