Now, free parking in malls for 30 minutes

LUCKNOW: Now, park your vehicles for free at shopping malls and complexes in the city for first 30 minutes of your visit. Necessary instructions will be issued soon and implemented from February 1, he added.As per estimates, around 2,000 vehicles are parked daily in shopping malls and complexes in the city. “Many people who make a short visit to a mall or a complex park their vehicles on the roadside to avoid paying parking fees. Also, parking rates will be uniform throughout the week, ending practice of extra charges over the weekend at some places, he added. The decision will encourage people to use designated parking spaces,” said municipal commissioner Indramani Tripathi.

Further, there will be no extra charge on the weekend.After 30 minutes, Rs 30 will be charged on the parked vehicles for next four hours and thereafter Rs 10 will be added with every passing hour.The decision will be implemented from February 1. It has been taken to decongest roads around shopping malls and complexes where visitors haphazardly park their vehicles to avoid paying the parking fee.The decision was taken in a meeting of officials of Lucknow Municipal Corporation, Lucknow Development Authority, district administration and traffic police with the representatives of shopping malls and complexes.The meeting was convened by district administration. “Many people who make a short visit to a mall or a complex park their vehicles on the roadside to avoid paying parking fees. The decision will encourage people to use designated parking spaces,” said municipal commissioner Indramani Tripathi. Also, parking rates will be uniform throughout the week, ending practice of extra charges over the weekend at some places, he added. Tripathi said malls and complex managers have agreed to the proposal.
