IMFL worth Rs 46.82 lakh seized across district till Friday

“Along with the liquor, we have seized 8,080 litre of raw chemical worth Rs3.46 lakh, gutka worth Rs10.44 lakh, 5.632kg ganja worth Rs37,000, weapons worth Rs18,651 and one two bore rifle worth Rs25,000 with 7 cartridges worth Rs700,” an official from district administration said.“We have also seized vehicles worth Rs6.67 lakh. These figures include action taken by the police, excise and other officials from the date when model code of conduct came into effect in Kolhapur district till Friday. KOLHAPUR: Since the model code of conduct came into effect, various government agencies, including the police and state excise, have seized as many as 10,857 litre of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs46.82 lakh and Rs20 lakh of fake Indian currency.The district administration has stated that the drive will continue across the district to keep a check on the flow of illegal liquor, weapons and cash. We have issued instructions to the authorities concerned to intensify their action against the illegal activities in the district,” he added.The official said that along with these agencies, their squads continue to routinely patrol areas in the district and take action if they find anyone violating model code of conduct.
