60 hotel owners from district found violating model code of conduct

Kolhapur: Taking strict action against the hotels and bars that were found open late at night in the district, the Kolhapur police have taken action against 60 hotel owners, including 27 from Kolhapur city. We will further intensify our action in the district and ensure that all the hotels and bars are shut before 10pm,” he added. They have to shut all business activities after 10pm and if any hotel is found to be violating these rules, strict action will be taken against them. The action against these hotels will send a message to all the hotel and bar owners and we expect that they will strictly follow the rules. Despite our repeated instructions and warnings, we have found as many as 60 hotels from across the district that have violated the rules in one or the other.

Superintendent of police Abhinav Deshumukh has sent a proposal to the district collector to cancel the licenses of these hotels for violating the model code of conduct.“Before the model code of conduct came into effect and after the announcement of the elections, we had issued instructions to all the owners of hotels, bars, wine shops and restaurants, including the roadside eateries and dhabas, that they are allowed to conduct their business till 10pm. They have to shut all business activities after 10pm and if any hotel is found to be violating these rules, strict action will be taken against them. Despite our repeated instructions and warnings, we have found as many as 60 hotels from across the district that have violated the rules in one or the other. We have taken action against all of them and have sent a proposal to the district collectorate for the cancellation of the licenses of these offending hotels,” said a senior police officer.“In Kolhapur city, we have taken action against 27 hotels and most of them are from the jurisdiction of the Juna Rajwada police station. The action against these hotels will send a message to all the hotel and bar owners and we expect that they will strictly follow the rules. We have issued instructions to all the concerned police officers to take action in their respective jurisdictions and ensure that the rules are being followed by all. We will further intensify our action in the district and ensure that all the hotels and bars are shut before 10pm,” he added.
