A, B wards to receive water at low pressure

We are expecting A and B wards to receive water at low pressure on Wednesday morning. Officials have appealed to citizens not to panic as water tankers will make more trips to the affected areas.A senior official of the water supply department said, "The valves at Kawala Naka have been repaired and we have resumed the water supply. More tankers will be available with us to supply water to A and B wards. "The official added, "We have deployed five water tankers which made around 23 trips to the affected areas. Officials said that the work to repair the valves had been completed and the water supply had been resumed to some parts of E-ward by Tuesday evening.Since there are layers of sediment deposits that still need to be removed, A and B wards will receive water at low pressure on Wednesday morning.

KOLHAPUR: Come next week, citizens must ensure that they have adequate water in their households to sustain their requirements as the filter tanks could not be cleared completely in two days and the civic administration has scheduled the remaining works for Monday.Since the filter house needs to be shut to remove the remaining sediments, the water supply will be stopped for a day on Monday.Meanwhile, several parts of the city reeled under water crisis on Tuesday owing to delays in the work to remove the sediments from the filter tanks and repair the damaged valves.Water cuts have been in place in A, B and E wards since Monday morning. Officials said that the work to repair the valves had been completed and the water supply had been resumed to some parts of E-ward by Tuesday evening.Since there are layers of sediment deposits that still need to be removed, A and B wards will receive water at low pressure on Wednesday morning. More tankers will be available with us to supply water to A and B wards."The work to remove sediments need to be carried out regularly in order to increase the storage capacity of the tanks. Officials said that the filter tanks had not been cleaned since many years due to which the storage and filtering capacity of the tanks reduced by around 30%.
