Corporators, stakeholders to discuss property tax issue tomorrow

At present, the tax rate on commercially-rented properties is around 70% of the rent paid by the firms to the owners and most of the owners do not pay tax owing to high tax rates, he said.The civic administration has maintained that the decision on the tax proposals needs to be taken before February 20 so that they can draft the budget estimates for the next financial year on time.The corporators maintained that they are ready to accept the tax proposals with some riders and the civic administration has to accept the suggestions. However, it is unlikely that the civic administration will allow the tax reduction and refer the suggestion of the corporators to the state government.Corporators to donate a month’s salary to kin of slain CRPF jawans: Corporators paid tribute to the jawans slain of Pulwama attack. Each corporator will pay Rs 10,000 to the families of the jawans. The decision was taken unanimously and corporators suggested to transfer the amount to the families immediately
