KOCHI: Njarackal police on Thursday arrested a 32-year-old man on charges of raping his estranged wife.Police said the accused also recorded the video of the act and spread it on social media as a revenge for leaving him. Police said that the accused hails from Aluva NAD. The incident happened on March 19. The accused had allegedly lured the woman to his rented house at Malipuram by telling her that he would allow her to see their two minor children who were staying with him.Njarackal police booked him under Section 375 (rape) of IPC and various provisions of the IT Act. He was produced before the Njarackal judicial first-class magistrate and was remanded in judicial custody.Poaching case accused appears before court: Kolkata Thankachi alias Sindhu - the main accused in the case pertaining to poaching of 11 tuskers at Thundathil range in 2015 - appeared before the judicial first-class magistrate court at Kothamangalam on Thursday."We had recorded her arrest in Kolkata and had presented her before the court for transit warrant. But the court allowed her to reappear before the local court on April 23, considering her age," said Thundathil forest range officer Sijo Samuel.Thankachi was arrested during a joint operation conducted by a team of Thundathil forest range officers and Kolkata police. Earlier in March, Kolkata's directorate of revenue intelligence had arrested her husband Sudheesh Chandra Babu and daughter Amitha S C Babu from Kolkata for smuggling ivory products.
